Mission:
Dangerous Waters (Prologue)
Location: Sickbay
AJ stepped out of her office and glanced over and saw Jeff, Kyvin and Shelby speaking in the center of sickbay. Walking over to them she smiled. "Jeff," she said in a casual less informal way. That was how Ariana worked, she preferred to use the persons name rather then rank. Ranks weren't everything to her, she much rather wanted to know the person. Wasn't the fact she didn't respect the rank and title, or didn't believe in the chain of command, just for her it worked better this way. "I want you and Kyvin to start sifting through the medical logs and personnel files. I want to make sure everyone has had their physicals, also while you two are doing it if they've not had their required mental evaluations flag the their file and send it to the counseling department." AJ said.
Jeff and Kyvin nodded and turned to head off to get started on the task of going through all the personnel files of those serving onboard the Horizon.
The blonde chief medical officer then turned to Shelby, she was Ensign Shelby Reese, a dedicated nurse and quickly becoming one of AJ's friends. The red haired Irish woman was competent and driven, qualities AJ liked for those working with her in the medical department. She was about to say something when the sickbay doors opened and in walked a man in civilian clothing. "I've got it.." AJ said and she moved over to the man holding his arm.
Before she could even ask anything he spoke, "I was in the holodeck, rock climbing when I slipped and fell. I think I've broke my arm.." He said.
AJ wondered how this could have happened, safety protocols should have kicked in and prevented something like this from happening. She would find out about that soon as she cheeked him out. "What's your name?" She asked him as she guided him over to one of the bio-beds.
"Lt.. Lt. Joran Cruz.." He said with a pained expression on his features.
"I'm Dr. Ariana Kyle... you're going to be just fine." AJ said as she pulled the tricorder from her lab coat and began to scan it over his arm. "yeah, you've got broke arm. Want to tell me why you disengaged security protocols, Joran?" AJ asked as she picked up a demeral regeneration tool.
His chocolate eyes looked up into her green ones and tried to think of a good reason, but there wasn't one. "I wanted the challenge of a real climb." He said and tried to force a smile through the discomfort.
"Look what you got, a real broke arm." She said then ran the tool over his arm to began to heal his broken arm. "You shouldn't take risks with you life... technically you belong to Starfleet still." She said and smiled making a joke. "Alright, think you're good to go... do me a favor though. No more risks on your life."
"Yes, Ma'am.." He said with a grin and stood up to leave.
AJ watched him leave and picked up a data padd to make a note on what she had done and filed it on his file. She then reached up and was about to tap her commbadge, but paused and instead sent a note to ship operations and security about what happened just incase they wanted to put a stop to people removing safety protocols from the holodeck.
